Job Description
KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Do you want a full academic year in KS2 where you support pupils 1:1, in small groups, and in class, and see progress build through consistent routines?

*** KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2026 to July 2027
*** £85 - £95 per day
*** Good primary school, Wolverhampton
*** 1:1, small group and general classroom support across KS2

The Role:
You will work across Years 3 to 6, supporting pupils during whole-class teaching, independent tasks, and intervention time. Your day will blend in-class support with short, structured sessions for pupils who need extra practice to keep up. You will help pupils start tasks promptly, stay focused, and complete work with growing independence.

In class, you will reinforce the teacher’s instructions, model first steps, and scaffold learning using practical strategies such as chunking tasks, guided practice, visual prompts, and quick check-ins. You will support behaviour expectations and transitions so learning stays calm and purposeful.

You will also deliver 1:1 and small group sessions linked to current class learning, so practice stays relevant and progress stays trackable. In reading, you will build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension through structured questioning and evidence-led answers. In writing, you will support sentence accuracy, spelling patterns, punctuation, and editing habits. In maths, you will reinforce number fluency and reasoning by breaking tasks into small steps and pushing accuracy. KS2 learning expectations sit within the national curriculum, so your work will link directly to core objectives across English and maths.

You will keep brief notes on what pupils managed and what needs repeating, then share updates with the teacher so groups and targets shift at the right time. Safeguarding is part of your day. You will follow school policy and keep professional boundaries.

The Candidate:
You bring calm routines, clear explanations, and consistency. You take feedback well and you keep pupils focused without creating tension.

  • Degree at 2:2 or above in any subject
    • Strong literacy and numeracy, confident supporting KS2 learning
    • Comfortable delivering 1:1 and small group sessions with clear aims and tidy routines
    • Experience with children through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, camps, or volunteering is desirable
    • Professional approach to behaviour expectations, confidentiality, and safeguarding
    • Enhanced DBS required, plus right to work checks, references, and standard school vetting

The School:
You will join a Good primary school in Wolverhampton where routines are consistent across KS2 and support staff are used with purpose. Intervention time is planned into the week and linked to classroom teaching, so you always know what you are reinforcing and why. You will get clear direction on focus pupils, session priorities, and resources from the start, plus regular feedback so your support stays sharp across the year.

Apply Now:
Send your CV to be considered. If shortlisted, you will get a call to confirm your September 2026 availability, your experience with children, and your confidence supporting KS2. Checks follow, then the school stage is arranged in good time for the start date.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
