This specialist school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Maths Teacher to work with students whose primary diagnosis is Autism in a supportive and well-structured environment.
As a Maths Teacher at this school, you will teach small classes of children with Autism and moderate learning needs, delivering engaging and highly differentiated lessons that support both academic progress and wider development. You will create a calm, structured classroom environment where students can build confidence, develop numeracy skills and engage positively with learning. The school is well-resourced and offers strong support from experienced Teaching Assistants and a collaborative leadership team.
This role requires a teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), strong subject knowledge and a genuine interest in working with children with special educational needs. Previous SEND experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate. This role has potential to become permanent for the right Maths Teacher.
Job Role:- Teaching Maths to small classes of pupils with Autism and other moderate learning needs
- Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet individual learning needs
- Creating a structured, calm and supportive classroom environment
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants to support engagement and progress
- Supporting students’ communication, confidence and independence
- Using a range of strategies to engage learners with additional needs
- Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil progress
- Contributing to EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
