A busy Alternate Provision in Birmingham is looking for a Science Teacher to join their highly achieving team in the Science department. Are you a Qualified Science Teacher with a passion for working with children with SEND and SEMH needs? Are you looking for rewarding challenge where you can really make a difference? For this role it is important that you have good communication skills as all students have EHCPs and as a result require special care and patience to manage their behaviour and help them succeed. You will be working alongside an experienced Science Teacher to deliver carefully planned lessons which will be suitable for students’ needs and level of ability. The school prides itself in combining academic education with mental and social well-being and has created a safe and respectful culture for students and staff.
As a Science Teacher, you will be teaching physics, chemistry, and biology from year groups 5 – 11. You will mainly be focussed on delivering lessons in your subject specialism but will be expected to teach triple science up to GCSE when requested by the lead Science Teacher. Due to the nature of the school, the students often present challenging behaviour, so you will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and an understanding of SEMH needs to effectively work in this setting. The school is looking for someone who can effectively manage classes of varying size and has an in-depth knowledge of the subject. For this role it is essential that you are a QTS or QTLS Science Teacher and is suitable for NQTs and ECTs.
