Teaching Assistant, Alternate Provision, Birmingham.
A lively Alternate Provision school in Birmingham is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Teaching Assistant to provide support for a Year 11 student with SEMH needs. The Teaching Assistant will be required to work with the student on a 1-2-1 basis and in group settings whilst supporting the teacher in the classroom. If you have experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children on the SEND register and want to make a difference in a rewarding workplace with an award-winning team of staff, then this is the job for you! You will be joining an established group of Teaching Assistants and pastoral staff to provide the best care and quality of education to this group of students.

A Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification is preferred but not essential, however experience working with SEN students is required. Because life in an Alternate Provision can be busy, you may be asked to carry out duties outside of the standard Teaching Assistant role. This can include off-site visits; break/lunch duties and supporting classes outside of your regular timetable. The school has impressive resources and provides outstanding support to both the students and the staff.

Details about the Teaching Assistant role:

  • Working on a 1-2-1 basis with KS4 students with SEMH needs in classrooms
  • Engaging in activities taking place throughout the school and beyond
  • Provide support to teaching staff as a Classroom Assistant
  • Work alongside the pastoral team to support students who have additional needs
