An Alternate Provision school in East Birmingham is looking for an enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team. Are you passionate about helping SEMH students re-engage with school after struggling with mainstream education? Do you have experience as an English Teacher and are looking for a new, exciting challenge? This OFSTED “Good” school is looking for an English Teacher to join their excellent English department to deliver lessons to students in year groups 9 -11. Whilst the school emphasises creating a nurturing, supportive and trauma-informed environment for its pupils, it also boasts an impressive curriculum and aims to raise attainment across the school.
As an English Teacher, you will be teaching English to KS3 AND KS4 students, up to Foundation GCSE level. You will work with the other English Teacher in the school to plan and teach high quality lessons to varying class sizes. Many of the pupils at the school have SEN and SEMH needs so behaviour can be demanding at times. As a result, you will need to demonstrate empathy and understanding of each child’s situational needs to provide the best support possible. As an English Teacher, you will also have the assistance of an excellent team of pastoral staff that will be present during lessons to help with students undergoing difficulties. The school also hosts many out of classroom activities which you will be participate in along with other staff (these are occasionally off-site visits too). For this role you must be a QTS or QTLS English Teacher. Although the job is suitable for ECTs and NQTs, it is essential that you have experience working with SEN children.
