An SEN Primary School in South Birmingham is looking for an SEN teacher to join their outstanding team. Are you looking for an exciting new role working with children with SEMH needs? Are you passionate about providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children with EHCPs to thrive in? Many of the students at this school have severe and complex learning difficulties, so as an SEN teacher it is paramount that you have excellent communication skills and an understanding of the needs of all individuals under your care. The school has a very large team of staff ensuring that support is always present in the classroom to help manage challenging behaviours and was recently awarded ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED.
As an SEN teacher, you will be working with small classes of students following a pre-prepared scheme of work. You will be required to differentiate the level of difficulty for each student depending on their level of ability and will receive support from other experienced SEN staff. You will be expected to take part in wider-school activities that make the school an exciting, dynamic place to attend. You will be working with students from reception to year 6, so a good understanding of the EYFS framework is required. It is important that you are a welcoming and open role model for students as many may struggle to engage with pastoral support due to their SEMH needs. It is essential that you are a QTS or QTLS Teacher and is suitable for NQTs and ECTs, providing you have experience working in a SEND environment.
- Planning and delivering lessons suitable for pupils’ additional needs
- Working with students in year groups Reception – Year 6
- Creating a nurturing environment where pupils are supported
- Tackling safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Building strong, positive relationships with the children
- Taking part in wider-school activities and trips
