The Education Network are currently looking to recruit a hardworking, caring and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant who specialises in supporting children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) to work in one of our partner schools based in Northumberland.

This school caters for learners with PMLD and are therefore seeking an SEND Teaching Assistant with a calming attitude who is comfortable and competent working with a range of complex needs.

 

The SEND Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have recent and relevant experience in a similar role, preferably working with children with SLD/PMLD, though we welcome applicants with a similar background e.g. mainstream education, care, or nursing.
  • Possess the key transferrable skills needed to be able to effectively support children with PMLD/SLD, including patience, excellent communication skills and a caring personality
  • Possess an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • Have a full understanding of the safeguarding responsibilities of an SEND Teaching Assistant

Specialised skills/experience which are desirable, but not essential, include:

  • Using hoists
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Makaton
  • Multi-sensory environments etc.
