The Role
An Outstanding secondary school in Coventry is seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join its history department from September 2026 on a long-term supply basis.
 
The successful candidate will teach History across KS3 to KS5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ historical knowledge, analytical skills, critical thinking, and understanding of significant events and periods. You will support students in making strong progress through their studies, including preparation for GCSE and A Level qualifications.
 
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment. You will uphold high expectations for behaviour and achievement while encouraging students to question, analyse, debate, and develop a genuine interest in History.
 
The Candidate
  • Hold QTS or be an ECT
  • Have experience teaching History across KS3 to KS5
  • Be confident delivering the secondary History curriculum
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and analytical skills
  • Have strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Be committed to supporting student progress and raising attainment
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a genuine passion for History and inspiring young people
