The Role
A secondary school in Walsall is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Music Teacher to join its Performing Arts department from September 2026 on a full-time supply basis.
The successful candidate will teach Music across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging and inspiring lessons that develop students' practical performance, composition, listening, and appraisal skills. The school would particularly welcome applications from teachers with a Rock and Pop music background, who can bring contemporary performance experience and enthusiasm into the classroom while encouraging students to explore a wide range of musical genres.
Working within a supportive department, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and creating an inclusive learning environment where creativity and confidence can flourish. You may also have the opportunity to contribute to school concerts, productions, ensembles, bands, and extracurricular music activities.
 
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification; ECTs are welcome to apply
  • Have experience teaching Music across KS3 and KS4
  • Ideally have a Rock / Pop performance background or experience delivering contemporary music
  • Be confident teaching both practical and theoretical aspects of the Music curriculum
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Be committed to supporting student progress and raising attainment
  • Have a genuine passion for music education and inspiring young people through performance and creativity
