The Role
A secondary school in Shrewsbury is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to join their department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, with a focus on Food Technology and Resistant Materials. You will deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons that encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving while helping students develop valuable technical and life skills.
The role will involve planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, maintaining high standards of health and safety within practical learning environments, and supporting pupils in completing a range of design and manufacturing projects. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver an inspiring curriculum that prepares students for further study and future careers within design, engineering, hospitality, and manufacturing.
 
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification; ECTs are welcome to apply
• Have experience teaching Design Technology at KS3 and KS4
• Be confident delivering Food Technology and/or Resistant Materials
• Demonstrate excellent classroom and workshop management skills
• Have a thorough understanding of health and safety procedures within practical subjects
• Be committed to raising student achievement and encouraging creativity
• Have a passion for practical education and developing students' technical skills
