The Role
A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Science to lead their department from September 2026 on a permanent basis.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving standards across the Science department and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning at all levels. You will oversee the delivery of Science across KS3 and KS4, with responsibility for curriculum planning, staff development, and student outcomes.
The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping departmental strategy, improving attainment, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will also support and develop teaching staff, ensuring consistency and high expectations across the team.
 
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:

• Hold a degree-level qualification and QTS
• Have experience teaching Science to GCSE standard
• Demonstrate a track record of sustained high attainment and achievement
• Be confident in leading, coaching, and motivating colleagues
• Show innovation and creativity in delivering engaging and effective lessons
• Have the ability to drive departmental improvement and strategic development
