Graduate Teaching Assistant Could you make a real difference to pupils who need extra academic support to stay on track? Are you looking for a primary school role that gives you broad classroom experience before teacher training?
*** Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** £85 - £101 per day
*** September 2026 to July 2027
*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Wolverhampton
*** 1:1 and small group academic support across the national curriculum in either KS1 or KS2
The Role: Provide 1:1 and small group academic support across either KS1 or KS2, helping pupils strengthen their understanding across the national curriculum. You will reinforce learning in English, Maths, and wider curriculum subjects, support classwork, prepare simple resources, and keep teachers updated on pupil progress. Teaching assistants support teachers in the classroom and help children with reading, writing and learning activities.
The Candidate: You are adaptable, encouraging, and able to explain ideas clearly to primary-aged pupils. You want meaningful school-based experience, enjoy helping children grow in confidence, and are keen to build the practical classroom skills needed for a future in teaching. Primary school teachers are responsible for the educational, social and emotional development of children between the ages of 3 and 11, which makes this a strong foundation role before teacher training.
Requirements- Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
- Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
The School: This ‘Outstanding’ primary school in Wolverhampton offers the chance to build broad classroom experience in a setting where high standards, strong routines, and purposeful support matter. You will work closely with experienced staff in a role that gives you exposure to intervention, classroom practice, and the support strategies schools use to help pupils make steady progress across either KS1 or KS2. GOV.UK guidance says roles that fall within work with children can be eligible for an Enhanced DBS check in the child workforce, and the main DBS eligibility guidance was updated on 20 January 2026.
