Job Description
Science Graduate Teaching Assistant

Could you help pupils make better sense of science when lessons start to feel too difficult? Are you looking for hands-on secondary school experience before moving into teacher training?

*** Science Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2026 to July 2027
*** £85 - £105 per day
*** Secondary school, Ward of Hall Green
*** 1:1 and small group academic support to improve attainment levels

The Role:
Work with the Science department to support pupils who need extra help across KS3 and KS4. You will deliver 1:1 and small-group intervention, reinforce learning from lessons, support revision, and give teachers clear feedback on progress. Teaching assistants commonly support teachers in the classroom and help pupils with reading, writing, and wider learning activities.

The Candidate:
You are clear, reliable, and able to explain scientific ideas in a way pupils can follow. You want proper classroom experience, enjoy helping young people build confidence in core subjects, and are keen to develop the skills needed for a future in teaching.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate. People working with children in eligible roles may need an Enhanced DBS check depending on the duties involved.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.

The School:
This secondary school in the Ward of Hall Green is looking for a graduate who can support attainment through focused academic intervention. You will join a setting where targeted support is valued, staff work closely together, and pupils benefit from extra help that is planned to make a real difference rather than just fill the timetable.

How to Apply
Apply today with your CV to be considered for this Science Graduate Teaching Assistant role. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss next steps and arrange interview. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the high number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
