If you want day-to-day experience that supports an application for a PGCE, this Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant role gives you a full academic year in a well-run primary setting. You will support pupils across the classroom, deliver targeted interventions, and learn how strong routines and consistent support help children progress.
 
The Role
• You will provide 1:1 support for pupils who need extra help with reading, writing, or maths.
• You will deliver small group interventions linked to what the class teacher is teaching.
• You will support whole-class learning by checking understanding and keeping pupils on task.
• You will reinforce routines, transitions, and expectations to support positive behaviour for learning.
• You will prepare resources and help keep the classroom organised and ready for lessons.
• You will record progress and share clear feedback with the class teacher.
• You will follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times and report concerns immediately.
 
The Candidate
• You will have a 2:2 degree or above in any subject.
• You will have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
• You will communicate clearly and build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• You will be reliable, proactive, and calm in a busy classroom.
• You will have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or you will be willing to obtain one.
