The Role:
You will work across KS1 or KS2, supporting pupils who need extra help to access learning, stay regulated, and make progress in class. Your day will blend classroom support with targeted 1:1 and small group sessions, built around clear outcomes agreed with the class teacher and SENCO. You will follow pupil plans and use consistent strategies, so pupils get the same message from every adult. In class, you will scaffold learning through chunked instructions, modelling, guided practice, visual prompts, and quick check-ins. In interventions, you will focus on the barriers holding pupils back, early literacy, basic number, attention and task-start, organisation, communication, and confidence. You will spot issues early, help pupils reset calmly, and keep routines predictable so learning stays on track.
 
You will keep brief, factual notes on what worked and what changed, then feedback to staff so support stays focused and gets reviewed through the assess, plan, do, review cycle.

Safeguarding sits inside your day. You follow school policy, report concerns, and keep professional boundaries.
 
The Candidate:
You bring calm consistency, clear communication, and strong boundaries. You build trust through reliability, and you stay steady when pupils struggle.
 

• Degree at 2:2 or above in any subject
• Confident supporting pupils in KS1 or KS2, including pupils with additional needs
• Comfortable delivering 1:1 and small group support with clear routines and outcomes
• Experience with children through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, care, or volunteering is desirable
• Professional approach to behaviour expectations, safeguarding, and confidentiality
• Enhanced DBS required, plus right to work checks, references, and standard school vetting
