Graduate Teaching Assistant – EAL

Are you a graduate who can help support pupils who have English as an Additional Language?

Would you like to gain experience in a primary school, supporting your application for teacher training in 2022?

*** Graduate Teaching Assistant - EAL
*** £75 - £85 per day
*** November 2021 start, July 2022 finish
*** Fantastic primary school based in the Ward of Ladywood
*** 1:1, small group support, personal care to EYFS & Yr1 pupils

If you have experience working with EYFS or Yr1 pupils with additional needs and would like to gain more experience, being supported with an online training programme… this is the role for you!

So, what is English as an Additional Language and what does it mean for pupils? The meaning of EAL is pretty simple - it refers to learners whose first language is not English. Learners may be fluent in several other languages and dialects even if they're attending schools whose first language is English.

When beginning with a new language, children will go through a phase of being silent. Although this may last several months it's important to remember that children will often understand more than they can say and this silence is no cause for concern.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with EYFS and Yr1 pupils, providing 1:1 and small group support. Some children may require personal care so a graduate who is willing to get stuck in and take care of the children is a must.

The school is situated in the Ward of Ladywood, just outside the city centre and clean air zone. Graduates travelling from the North of the city will find the commute pleasant, via car or public transport (bus & train).
