Job Description

Want paid KS2 experience that builds real classroom skill?

Support a Year 3 class with focused 1:1 and small group work.

*** Yr3 Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026

*** ‘Good’ primary school, Selly Oak
*** 1:1 and small group support for a Year 3 class

What you will do:
Deliver short, well-planned boosters in reading, writing and maths. Pre-teach key content, run guided practice, and check understanding with quick retrieval tasks. Provide 1:1 catch up, set up simple resources, and record clear notes so next steps are obvious to the class teacher.

Who you are:
A tidy, reliable graduate who explains ideas plainly and keeps sessions purposeful. You notice misconceptions early, use examples well, and help pupils grow independence.

Requirements
  • Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Confident written and spoken English.
  • Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Strong interest in KS2 progress and wellbeing.
  • Experience working with children – Relevant experience is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ Selly Oak primary is two form entry with calm, predictable routines that keep learning on track. Year groups co-plan and share high quality materials, including model texts, worked examples and ready to use intervention packs. Reading is a whole school focus with daily guided reading and vocabulary work. Maths follows a small steps sequence with frequent fluency drills and consistent methods across classes. The inclusion team runs regular plan do review cycles, with quick access to visual supports and regulation spaces when needed. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite size CPD and coaching drop ins with precise, usable next moves. You get the conditions to show impact quickly and build a strong case for initial teacher training.

How to Apply
Email your CV and include availability and DBS status. Add two referees if possible. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief phone screen and an in-school observation. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
