Job Description
Graduate Teaching Assistant

Want real Early Years exposure before teacher training?

Help children build early language, number and social skills through well-planned play.

*** Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £90 - £105 per day
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Yardley
*** Promote education to young minds in EYFS

What you’ll do:
Support the Reception/Nursery team across the EYFS curriculum. Set up and refresh continuous provision, run brief adult-led activities (phonics, early number, fine-motor), and give calm 1:1 help when needed. You’ll model rich talk, extend play, prompt turn-taking, and capture quick observations so next steps are clear.

Who you are:
A clear communicator who’s organised, warm and practical. You follow guidance, keep routines predictable, and help children become independent without doing the task for them.

Requirements
  • Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Strong written and spoken English.
  • Enhanced DBS – Held already or willing to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in EYFS and child development.
  • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (nursery, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ two-form entry Yardley primary runs settled, talk-rich EYFS provision with zoned indoor/outdoor areas (role play, construction, small world, mark-making and sensory spaces). Phonics is taught daily with consistent routines; early maths follows small steps with practical models and quick retrieval. Staff plan together and share ready-made activity cards, language prompts and simple observation formats so you can deliver high-quality sessions without reinventing resources. Behaviour expectations are clear and visual, and new colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD and short coaching drop-ins that translate into immediate, usable next moves—ideal conditions to build evidence for ITT.

How to Apply
Email your CV and include your availability and DBS status (add two referees if you can). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and an in-school observation. Roles may close early if filled.

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
