Job Description
Primary Teaching Assistant – Graduate Opportunity

Looking to become a teacher? Start by gaining a full year of in-class experience in a supportive, forward-thinking school.

*** Primary Teaching Assistant
*** £80 – £100 per day
*** September 2025 – July 2026
*** School Location: Wolverhampton
*** Excellent experience for a graduate looking to train as a teacher

The Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers to support pupils across the school—most likely within Key Stage 1 or 2. Your daily responsibilities will include preparing resources, supporting lessons, working 1:1 with pupils who need extra help, and leading small group activities in core subjects like phonics, reading, writing, and maths.

You’ll assist in delivering learning objectives and helping pupils stay on track—academically and behaviourally. You may also support children with mild SEN needs, helping them engage with classroom routines and ensuring they can access the curriculum. Over time, you’ll gain experience managing groups, supporting with classroom displays, delivering tailored interventions, and even covering short activities independently.

You’ll get insight into how teachers plan, differentiate and assess learning, and you’ll have the chance to observe a range of teaching styles and classroom management techniques. This is hands-on, full-time classroom experience—not a shadowing role.

The Candidate
You’re a graduate with strong literacy and numeracy skills, and you're serious about pursuing a career in education. You’re proactive, reliable, and enthusiastic about working with children. Whether your background is in English, Psychology, Education, or another degree subject, you’ll bring a calm, encouraging presence and a strong sense of initiative.

Any previous experience—whether tutoring, mentoring, volunteering in schools, or youth work—is highly desirable. You should be able to build rapport with pupils, communicate clearly, and adapt to the needs of individual learners. If you're planning to apply for teacher training in 2026, this role will significantly strengthen your application.

The School
This Wolverhampton primary school is inclusive, well-led and known for its focus on pupil development and staff support. Teaching Assistants are fully integrated into the classroom team and receive regular guidance and feedback. You’ll be working with professionals who understand how to mentor and develop graduates on their journey into teaching.

Expect a structured environment, clear expectations, and an experienced team who’ll give you the confidence and tools to thrive in the classroom.

If you're ready to build classroom confidence and gain real, valuable experience before teacher training—apply now.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
