SEMH Teacher – Key Stage 3, Birmingham
Are you a qualified teacher who can build positive relationships with students who face social, emotional and mental health challenges? A specialist SEMH school in Birmingham is looking for a committed SEMH Teacher to support Key Stage 3 students who need a different approach to learning.

This SEMH Teacher role would suit someone who combines strong teaching skills with effective classroom management, patience and resilience. You will be working with students who may have struggled in mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning, develop confidence and make progress both academically and personally.

As a SEMH Teacher, you will need to establish clear boundaries, create a structured classroom environment and adapt your teaching to meet the needs of students with a range of social, emotional and behavioural challenges. You will understand that positive relationships and consistency are essential to helping students succeed. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Previous experience working with SEMH students or managing challenging behaviour would be highly beneficial.

Job Role:
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons to Key Stage 3 students with SEMH needs.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet different abilities, needs and learning styles.
  • Establish clear classroom routines, expectations and boundaries.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Build trusting relationships with students who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
  • Support students to develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive learning habits.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and other professionals to provide consistent support.
  • Monitor progress and identify ways to help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, independence and a more positive attitude towards education.
In return you will:
  • Have the opportunity to make a real difference to students who need additional support.
  • Develop your experience within specialist SEMH education.
  • Work in a setting where relationships, consistency and individual progress are key.
  • Be supported by an experienced education recruitment consultant.
  • Access ongoing support throughout your placement.
