Primary Teacher – SEMH Class – South Birmingham Are you an experienced Primary Teacher or SEMH Teacher looking for working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive and welcoming setting?
This role would suit a QTS Primary Teacher who is confident working with pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning within mainstream education. You will teach a small class of pupils with SEMH needs, delivering a broad curriculum while adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Previous experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviours is essential. You will need strong classroom management skills, a calm and consistent approach, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may present challenging behaviour.
Job Role:- Teach a small primary class of pupils with SEMH needs
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the curriculum
- Adapt teaching to meet individual learning and SEMH needs
- Establish clear routines, boundaries and expectations
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support pupils to re-engage with learning and develop confidence
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching accordingly
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff
- Contribute to a safe, structured and positive learning environment
