Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision – South Birmingham
Are you Level 3 Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to support and mentor students who struggle to engage with education? This dynamic alternative provision is looking to add an experienced Teaching Assistant to the team to provide tailored 1-2-1 support for a Key Stage 4 boy who has an EHCP and requires 1-2-1 supervision and mentoring.

As a Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be working closely with the SEND and pastoral team to ensure that the student you are working with receives the tailored support that they deserve. This role requires a Teaching Assistant who has previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, Challenging Behaviours, or who have struggled to engage in mainstream education. As a Teaching Assistant you will be delivering 1-2-1 interventions, mentoring, and providing academic guidance in lessons. This role requires a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, ideally with previous Alternative Provision experience.

Job Role:

• Working as a Teaching Assistant on a dedicated 1-2-1 basis for a Key Stage 4 student with SEMH needs.
• Providing consistent support to a male student throughout the school day.
• Supporting the student to access lessons and engage with learning.
• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
• Supporting the student to manage barriers to learning.
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
• Providing individualised support based on the student's needs.
• Helping the student develop confidence, independence and resilience.
• Supporting the student with social and emotional development.
• Maintaining a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
• Following school policies relating to safeguarding, behaviour and pupil welfare.

To be considered for this Teaching Assistant opportunity, you must have previous Teaching Assistant experience and hold either a Level 3 qualification or a degree.
