Behaviour Mentor required to provide 1-2-1 support to a student at this welcoming Alternative Provision school in Birmingham. Are you a Behaviour Mentor looking for a rewarding new challenge? This is a fantastic opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor to make a genuine difference to a young person's education and help them re-engage with school.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide dedicated 1-2-1 support to a student within a Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 Alternative Provision setting. The Behaviour Mentor will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to understand the student's needs, manage challenging behaviour and encourage positive engagement with education.

This Behaviour Mentor role would suit someone who is calm, patient and resilient, with the ability to build strong and trusting relationships with young people. Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker or within an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEMH or SEND setting would be highly beneficial. The successful Behaviour Mentor will be confident managing challenging situations and understand the importance of consistency, boundaries and positive relationships when working with young people.

Job Role:

• Providing dedicated 1-2-1 Behaviour Mentor support to a student.
• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student.
• Supporting the student to manage their behaviour and emotions.
• Helping the student to recognise and overcome barriers to learning.
• Supporting the student to engage positively in lessons and school activities.
• Working closely with teachers to provide consistent Behaviour Mentor support.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Supporting the student with social and emotional development.
• De-escalating challenging situations using a calm and consistent approach.
• Providing encouragement, structure and appropriate boundaries throughout the school day.
• Working as part of a wider team of Behaviour Mentors, teachers and pastoral staff.
• Helping the student develop greater confidence, independence and resilience.
