Teaching Assistant required to provide 1-2-1 support to a student at a successful Alternative Provision school in South Birmingham. Are you a Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new challenge? As a Teaching Assistant, you will be providing dedicated 1-2-1 support to a student within a Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 Alternative Provision setting. The Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to help the student engage with lessons, manage barriers to learning and make positive progress.
This Teaching Assistant role would suit someone who is patient, resilient and confident building positive relationships with young people. Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or within an Alternative Provision or SEND setting would be highly beneficial. The successful Teaching Assistant will be someone who can remain calm when faced with challenging situations and understands that building trust and consistency is key to helping young people succeed.
Job Role:- Providing dedicated 1-2-1 support to a student throughout the school day.
- Supporting the student to access lessons and engage with their learning.
- Working closely with the class teacher to adapt support around the student's individual needs.
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student.
- Supporting behaviour management and helping the student regulate and remain engaged.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, attendance and participation.
- Helping the student overcome academic, social and emotional barriers.
- Supporting the student during lessons, break and other aspects of the school day.
- Working as part of a wider team of Teaching Assistants, teachers and pastoral staff.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards education.
