Job Description
Pastoral Lead – SEMH School (Immediate Start)
Are you an experienced Pastoral Lead with a passion for supporting vulnerable young people? Do you have the resilience, empathy and behaviour management skills needed to help students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs overcome barriers to education? This SEMH school in Walsall is looking to appoint a dedicated Pastoral Lead for an immediate start.

As a Pastoral Lead, you will work closely with students who present challenging behaviours and face significant social and academic barriers. You will provide mentoring, behaviour support and pastoral intervention to help pupils regulate emotions, improve engagement and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

You will work as part of a supportive pastoral and leadership team, building positive relationships with students, staff and families while promoting a safe, structured and nurturing school environment. This role requires previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviours or barriers to learning.

Job Role:
  • Providing pastoral support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement
  • Mentoring students on a 1-2-1 and small group basis
  • Working closely with teachers, families and external agencies
  • Supporting attendance, wellbeing and personal development
  • Assisting with behaviour interventions and restorative approaches
  • Promoting a safe, structured and inclusive school environment
