SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEND School
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to support young people with additional learning needs? Do you want to work in a school where you can make a real difference to students’ education and wellbeing? This specialist SEND school in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged pupils in a nurturing and well-supported environment.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide both 1-2-1 and small group support for students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Down’s Syndrome and communication impairments. You will play a key role in helping students engage with learning, develop independence and build confidence in a structured and inclusive setting.

Job Role:
  • Providing 1-2-1 and small group support for secondary-aged students with SEND
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, MLD, Down’s Syndrome and communication needs
  • Assisting with the delivery of lessons and adapting activities to meet individual needs
  • Helping students develop communication, independence and social skills
  • Supporting behaviour management and promoting positive engagement
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress and wellbeing
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
