Job Description
Teaching Assistant – PRU – Walsall
A Pupil Referral Unit in Walsall is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team, supporting students who require additional help to engage with learning. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people who may have faced barriers to education.

As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will work closely with teachers to provide both 1:1 and small group support, helping students manage their behaviour and re-engage with education. You will play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and encouraging environment where students can succeed academically and personally.
Job Role:
  • Supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Delivering tailored 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assisting with behaviour management and developing positive coping strategies.
  • Building strong relationships with students to encourage engagement and achievement.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people, ideally within a PRU, SEMH, or SEND setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
