Teaching Assistant, 1-2-1 support, SEMH School.
Are you a Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours?  Do you have a passion for helping children overcome barriers to education and get the most out of each and every day? This busy SEMH school are looking to add an experienced Teaching Assistant to a team of superstars! As a Teaching Assistant at this school you will be providing 1-2-1 behavioural and academic support for students who have struggles to engage with mainstream education. Behaviours can be challenging, so experience working with challenging behaviours and a calm attitude is essential.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be primarily working on a 1-2-1 basis, however you may be asked to provide small group support during lessons. You will be joining a small team of Teaching Assistants who  always put the needs of the children first, and are committed to making a difference. The senior leadership team are friendly, and supportive, and you will be provided with any additional training that you requires. This role requires experience as a Teaching Assistant or Behaviour Mentor, and a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification ( or equivalent)  is essential for this role. 
Job Role:

  • Supporting on a 1-2-1 basis within classes of students with SEMH needs
  • Having a good understanding of behaviour management techniques and classroom management
  • Working as a Classroom Assistant / Teaching Assistant
  • Taking part in whole school activities and making school fun, engaging and beneficial for pupils
  • Breaking down barriers to communication, managing behaviours, and inspiring students
