Learning Mentor required to work on a 1-2-1 basis with students that are no longer in a mainstream school setting. This role involves working with students that may have been outside of education for extended periods. You will be providing classroom basses support and helping the students to break down obstacles that they may face. Alongside academic support you will also be responsible for managing classroom behaviour, as many students are not used to the classroom setting.
Supporting within an Alternative Provision you will be given the opportunity to both work in the class setting and to enjoy the activities that they run for students. You will find that you will be given the opportunity to take part in trips and rewards on a regular basis. This is a challenging and highly rewarding experience for a Learning Mentor who is looking for a new challenge.
- Working on a 1-2-1 or small group basis
- Help students to engage with lessons
- Providing support to teaching staff when needed
- Building rapport and trust with students
- Leading on fun classroom activities
Ideally, you will:
- Have experience working as a Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant
- Have worked with challenging behaviour and Special Needs
- Be able to break down barriers to communication
- Have a calm, patient and positive approach
- Be able to challenge students when required
