The Education Network is working in partnership with an Ofsted “Good” Alternative Provision that caters for students that have been excluded from mainstream education. This school provides tailored environment for students that have demonstrated challenging behaviour, and is looking for a Learning Mentor to work on a 1-2-1 basis with students.
This role involved providing academic, social and behavioural support to Key Stage 3 & 4 students. You will be working in both classroom settings and outside of the classroom, taking advantage of the abundance of local resources. This role requires a Learning Mentor who is able to engage with students, has a clear communication style, and wants to be a positive role model for students.
- Working 1-2-1 with students
- Making learning fun for disengaged students
- Providing support to teaching staff when needed
- Building rapport and trust with students
- Leading on fun classroom activities
Ideally, you will:
- Have experience working as a Learning Mentor or Teaching Assistant
- Have worked with challenging behaviour
- Be able to break down barriers to communication
- Have a calm, patient and positive approach
- Be able to challenge students when required
