Behaviour Mentor – PRU
Do you have experience working with children who are no longer in mainstream education? Are you calm, patient and understanding of their needs? We are currently recruiting for a behaviour mentor to work within a Pupil Referral Unit, supporting students who require a positive influence. A large part of this role is about being a positive role model for students who have faced significant barriers to education. You will be providing social, behavioural and academic support for students, enabling them to reengage with education.
The school has a stable leadership team who are focused on providing a high standard of education and care to the students that they support. Staff are friendly and work well as a team. This is an opportunity to join a team who are determined to make a difference and have been praised for their continued success. Every day is different in this school allowing for a challenging and highly rewarding experience.
- Working on a 1-2-1 and small group basis with students
- Helping student to understand that all actions have consequences
- Supporting the teaching staff
- Taking students out of lessons for “break out” activities
- Diffusing potentially challenging situations
Ideally you will:
- Have experience working with challenging behaviour
- Have a clear and honest communication style
- Be able to stay calm under pressure
- Want to make a difference and inspire young people
