Job Details

Ofsted “Good” Alternative Provision require a Behaviour Mentor to support students who have been excluded from mainstream school. This role requires a friendly, calm and proactive Behaviour Mentor who enjoys breaking down barriers to communication. Working within this Alternative Provision setting requires patience and empathy. You will be supporting small groups of students in classes of no more than 6, and will be working closely with the pastoral team and teaching staff to ensure that no child is left behind.

The school itself has good facilities and an even better team. They work closely with students to make sure that each child is supported appropriately and enjoys coming to school. Children are given the opportunity to complete their GCSEs or Functional Skills, and a range of vocational subjects are also being taught. This is a great opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor who has experience inspiring and motivating students!

Job Role:

  • Working on a 1-2-1 and small group basis with students
  • Helping student to understand that all actions have consequences
  • Supporting the teaching staff
  • Taking students out of lessons for “break out” activities
  • Diffusing potentially challenging situations

Ideally you will:

  • Have experience working with challenging behaviour
  • Have a clear and honest communication style
  • Be able to stay calm under pressure
  • Want to make a difference and inspire young people
