About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and dedicated
SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in
Bingley. This role involves supporting pupils with
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them to access education, communication and care in a safe, nurturing environment.
This is a highly rewarding, hands-on role and applicants
must be comfortable providing personal care and supporting pupils with complex physical, medical and sensory needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
- Support pupils with personal care, including toileting, feeding and changing, ensuring dignity at all times
- Assist with mobility, positioning and specialist equipment (training provided)
- Support sensory-based learning activities and communication strategies
- Promote pupils’ emotional wellbeing, engagement and independence
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and medical professionals
- Maintain a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs (desirable)
- A caring, patient and flexible approach
- Confidence and willingness to carry out personal care duties
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
- Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
