A science technician is required for a busy Science Department in a school in Durham to work individually and as part of a team. Previous experience in a school setting is essential. You should also be educated in a science related subject.

Basic duties are as follows:
" Provide practical support for the Science Department by preparing and organising laboratory equipment, materials and experiments.
" Maintaining laboratory supplies.
" Ensuring equipment and apparatus are kept in a clean and tidy order.
" Assisting teachers during practical sessions and ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students.
" Monitor condition / cleanliness of the Science classrooms and to report problems / faults.
" Liaise with members of the department, as and when required.
" Carry out any other reasonable duties necessary to the efficient functioning of the department.
Relevant experience in science or laboratory work would be beneficial as well as being familiar with scientific equipment and materials used in secondary schools.

The role is 37 hours per week and is currently whole time.
