Teaching Assistant required to work at Pupil Referral Unit supporting Key Stage 2 children that re no longer in mainstream primary schools. In this role you will be providing support to the class teacher, working with small classes of pupils who have been excluded from mainstream school. You will be responsible for managing classroom behaviour, providing academic support and taking part in break out activities with the children.
This is a great opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who has worked with challenging behaviour, is able to entertain and engage with pupils who have faced barriers to learning, has a sense of humour, and most importantly puts the needs of the children first. This PRU are an excellent example of how an Alternative Provision should be run.
- Providing 1-2-1 support as a Learning Mentor
- Building rapport with students
- Delivering fun activities for students
- Managing classroom behaviour
- Providing high quality academic support
Ideally, you will:
- Have experience working with challenging behaviour
- Be a qualified Learning Mentor or Teaching Assistant
- Be resilient, creative and fun
- Be able to motivate disengaged children
