1:1 Alternative Provision Tutors Secondary
Location: Trafford, South Manchester, Salford
The Education Network is seeking 1:1 Alternative Provision Tutors to work with Looked after Children (LAC) with a diverse set of needs, throughout the Trafford and South Manchester areas. Tutors will successfully implement teaching in Maths, English and Science but there is often a need for Health and Social care, Humanities and sometimes languages. This is based around each individual's EHCP or PEP. It could also involve mentoring and emotional support, especially in these current times.
As a 1:1 Tutor you will help students overcome their barriers to learning. You need to have a calm, patient, empathetic manner and be able to implement de-escalation strategies to overcome displays of challenging behaviour. You must also be comfortable in liaising with school contacts as well as parents/carers. Tuition can take place in a variety of public spaces (such as libraries) as well as the home/care homes and currently through a virtual medium such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. An understanding of how to tutor in this way would be helpful.
1:1 Tutoring is a very rewarding role, working with students on an individual basis without the distraction of being in the classroom. You can develop a healthy and empowering relationship with students and facilitate a positive learning experience with successful outcomes.
Currently there are 1.6 million vulnerable children in the UK not accessing mainstream education. The Education Network is THE leading provider of targeted 1:1 alternative provision tutors in the North West region, we work with 8 local authorities, and have a team of 80+ 1:1 AP tutors that we currently work with-and we need to build that team further. Can you see yourself making a difference in young people's lives by being a 1:1 Tutor? If so, please send your CV and work experience to email@example.com
