Tutors - Newcastle and Surrounding Areas
The Education Network is currently working in partnership with an Alternative Education provider who are seeking qualified Tutors to support children on a one-to-one basis. The successful applicants will work with children who are unable to access mainstream school settings, including excluded children, school avoidant children and looked-after children. They face barriers to their learning but can achieve with the right support.
We are now seeking Tutors who can commit to between 4 and 20 hours per week and are able to deliver Maths and/or English up to GCSE level. Knowledge of additional subject(s) would be advantageous but not necessary.
As an example of the assignments that we are currently working on, we have the below:
Thursdays 9am until 10am - Science Tuition with a Looked After Child
Tuesdays 2:30pm until 3:30pm - Maths Tuition
Wednesdays 3pm until 4pm Maths Tuition with a Looked After Child
To be successful in your application to be a Tutor, you will ideally have:
- Experience of working with children / young people (essential)
- Experience of supporting young people to achieve their goals
- Knowledge of Maths and / or English Functional Skills and GCSE curricula
- A patient and empathetic approach
- A current, valid DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one
- Have excellent organisational and time management skills
