The Education Network are currently looking to recruit hard-working, caring and passionate SEND Learning Support Assistants who specialise in supporting children with Special Educational Needs. We work in close partnership with many schools across the North East who cater for children with a wide range of SEND, therefore we are keen to find high-quality SEND Learning Support Assistants who are committed to helping all children reach their potential. At present, we have several roles available in Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside.

To be successful in your application for the role of an SEND Learning Support Assistant, you must:

" Have recent (within the past two years) and relevant experience in a similar role, preferably supporting children with SEND, though we welcome applicants with a similar background (e.g. mainstream education/health and social care/nursing).
" Possess the key transferable skills needed to be able to effectively support children with SEND: patience, excellent communication skills and a caring personality.
" Be able to effectively assist learning on a 1:1, small group or whole class basis - depending on the requirement.
" Have experience dealing with challenging behaviour.
" Be able to provide the details of a minimum of two suitable referees from a professional channel to cover the past two years of employment/experience. In order to work with children, we will need to obtain one child-based reference from within the given time period.
" Possess an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one.
Specialised skills are desirable but not essential, which include:
" Moving and Handling
" Hydrotherapy
" Makaton
" Multi-sensory environments
" Team Teach
" Autism Awareness
