SEN Teaching Assistant - Durham
The Education Network are currently working with a school in Durham who are seeking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a full time, term time only basis. The role is fixed term, to extend for the full academic year, however there is scope for the right candidate to be taken on permanently. The role will involve working with small groups of students with challenging behaviour.
The successful Teaching Assistant will have:
* Recent experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a UK mainstream or SEN school OR experience in a similar setting which will give you relevant transferrable skills (e.g. social care, nursing, sports coaching etc.)
* The ability to remain professional at all times to build strong professional rapports with children and staff
* Be able to effectively assist children on a 1:1, small group or whole class basis in line with what the school have asked for
* Have a full understanding of safeguarding procedures and the responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant
*Possess an up to date enhanced DBS check or be willing to undertake one
