Pupil referral unit support worker

Do you have experience supporting students with challenging behaviour? Are you able to motivate hard to reach students? Would you like a role were every day is different? 

The Education Network is working in partnership with a Newcastle based pupil referal unit seeking experienced teaching assistants to work with their students.

The role will be full time from 08:30 - 16:00 Monday - Friday(applicants must be able to arrive no later than 08:30). At the begining of each day you will be assigned to a classroom your role will then be to support the teacher and keep students on task. 

Students may have significant barriers to education including special education needs or social emotional and mental health issues . The successful applicant should have experience supporting students with barriers to education.

Minimum Requirements for this role.


  • 12 Months experience supporting students with challenging behaviour.
  • Level 3 supporting Teaching and learning.
  • The ability to provide an education based reference within the last 24 months.

Unfortunatley if you do not meet any of these requirements we will not be able to consider you for this role.

Desireable Skills 

  • Positive handling training (Team Teach or equivalent).
  • Safe administration of medication.
  • Experience working in a Pupil referal unit.
