SEND Teaching Assistant-Pupil Referral Unit
Location - Warrington, UK
The Education Network is currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in an Alternative Provision Academy supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs, who have been identified as being at risk of exclusion, harm or have already been excluded from mainstream education. Children are referred by partner local authorities and schools within the North West region.
You will assist teaching staff in the delivery of learning activities and work programmes and undertake predetermined activities with pupils so that their intellectual and social development (including self-reliance and self-esteem) is fostered.
The School uses trauma informed and therapeutic approaches to re-engage learners with their education. You will be passionate about giving young people the skills they need to make a valuable contribution to society and to fulfil their dreams.
You will be required to liaise with parents and carers in conjunction with the teaching staff to ensure effective communication concerning the pupils' well being. Also, you will be expected to prepare and maintain learning equipment and ensure that the classroom is kept clean and tidy.
