The Education Network is currently recruiting a Sports Coach (with teaching assistant duties) for an alternative provision academy in Warrington. The school supports children with social, emotional and mental health needs, who have been identified as being at risk of exclusion, harm, or have already been excluded from mainstream education.
As the sports coach/TA you will work under the guidance of the SENDCO to deliver practical sports and games to learners in line with a range of qualifications, and assist on alternative provision projects that include sports and coaching. You will aid students allowing them to learn as effectively as possible, both in group situations and as individuals, therefore you will have to draw upon a range of learning support needs/strategies to develop an understanding of individual learners needs. You will also assist learners who demonstrate challenging behaviour, using appropriate strategies to overcome barriers to learning. As part of the whole department, you will be expected to participate in support planning, reporting, maintaining written records-as well as implementing agreed learning and behaviour policies.
To qualify for this role you must have an NVQ (or equivalent) in Teaching Assistance, or a recognised coaching qualification. You will have a full, clean driving licence, and ideally a minimum of 2 years experience of working with young people in a specialist educational setting.
The Education Network is acting as an agent to source/assess suitable candidates on behalf of the school. This is a permanent position offered by the school, and they will be the end employer.
