On the 26th June, 150 students in school year 2, from nine different schools gathered at the South Tyneside Football Festival for a battle to win the prestigious trophy, and the title of football champions of South Tyneside.

The children of St. Josephs Primary School lifted the winners trophy after showing unbeatable hard work and being victorious over the eight other schools competing in the tournament. All players were awarded a medal and certificate for taking part.

For the fourth year running, the football frenzy was sponsored by The Education Network, education recruitment specialists, part of the Pertemps Network Group; one of the UK’s largest privately owned recruitment agencies. They also provided the coveted trophy for the festival’s victors.

Jonathon Graham, Education Network’s organiser of the Festival said: “We were excited to be backing the Football Festival. It gave an opportunity for The Education Network to support the teaching of well being and healthy living to young children. The event also showed the children the benefits of sportsmanship, and we were pleased to be associated with such a brilliant and beneficial event.”
