Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant – To Start May 2019
The Education Network are working with a Specialist Education Provision School, based near Scunthorpe who requires a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join their established education team.
As the Teaching Assistant, you will have a passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey. The successful candidate will have a varied role, which involves supporting the teacher in all aspects to ensure that pupils receive the most effective support. You will be able to demonstrate a practical, hands on approach to supporting teaching and be prepared to go above and beyond.
The school offer a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boy and girls aged 10-19 years who have who have a range of learning difficulties, including moderate and severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorders, profound and complex needs. The School strives to provide learning experiences and opportunities that will enhance the lives of all the students they educate; with the bespoke and balanced teaching allowing our students the ability to grow into confident and creative individuals.
The school is commutable distance from Hull, Doncaster, Barton, Gainsborough and other surrounding towns and villages.
The role of (Secondary) Teaching Assistant is offered on a full time basis, to start May 2019 for the right candidate (during term time only). We are looking to appoint an individual with experience, or an interest, in working with pupils with Special Educational Needs.

Following a through induction and training programme, your duties will include:

- Providing day to day classroom support to the children, and assisting with pupil behaviour.
- Committing to raising the aspirations and achievement of all our pupils.
- Establishing good relationships and acting as a role model.
- Encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher in order to improve professional development.
- Helping to plan lessons by preparing materials and resources.

- Qualified to NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistant (or have an equivalent qualification)
- Maths and English GCSE C/4 or above, or equivalent qualification.
- Understanding of the current national curriculum at KS3/KS4.
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability to recognise and manage challenging behaviour.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
