SEND Behaviour Support - Basildon

The Education Network is looking for SEND Learning Support Assistants for the Basildon district. You will need to be experienced in handling challenging students with experience in any of the following Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) you will be working either with small groups or 1:1 with children in Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2).

SALARY - £60.00 - £75.00 per day for Short-Term or Longer-Term Supply Bookings
KEY STAGES - Key Stage 1 & 2
CONTRACT TYPE - Temporary, short-term and mid-term supply work.

OUR CLIENTS - Primary Schools - Basildon
We work with a number of Primary Schools including behaviour units linked to mainstream schools. We can offer you Contracts, Long Term Supply and Permanent positions. We have immediate starts and have both full and part time positions available.

We have great opportunities to contribute to the lives of children and students with ASC/BESD/SEMH and school refusers.

You will need to be passionate about Special Educational Needs (SEN) and be able to see past the barriers to learning. You will be expected to give appropriate feedback and maintain records of pupils' progress and development and will be liaising with other professionals, such as medical staff, careers advisers, educational psychologists, social services and education welfare officers.

You will need to be an experienced Teaching Assistant who has experience of working with students with challenging behaviour who have EHCP's for any of the following ASC/SEMH/ADHD or are school refusers. You must be able to remain calm when the need arises and have excellent negotiation skills.
You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with students and their families and have previous experience of working with children with severe emotional behaviour. The ability to see through challenging behaviour, be able motivate and inspire reluctant and struggling students coupled with the ability to differentiate work and use students interest's to build innovative and creative lesson is an advantage.

A recognised qualification in de-escalation and restraint such as PRICE, Team Teach, SCIP or MAPA is desirable but not essential.
