Are you an experienced Secondary School Teacher who is able to work with Challenging Behaviour?
The Education Network are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in Witham, Braintree, Essex. We are looking for a Secondary School Teacher with excellent communication skills and the ability to engage & inspire young people who demonstrate extremely challenging behaviour. The school predominantly works with students who are unable to access mainstream education due to a variety of SEHM and ASC Needs . The successful applicant will need to be an experienced Secondary School Teacher who is able to deliver lessons in a number of subjects to KS3 students . Experience in working with challenging behaviour is desirable.
The school has been praised for tis good teaching and assessment which allows students to make excellent progress. There is a strong team ethos amongst the staff which has created good relationships between staff and students. They have created an innovative five-part curriculum that includes Academic, Therapeutic, Enhanced, Engagement and ASC/SEMH-specific elements. Pupils have often been excluded from numerous schools and have been out of full-time education for an average of 18 months before they arrive at this school.
You will work with a range of ages and the work will depend on the age of the children and their individual needs, but you must:
- hold full QTS
- have recent experience as a KS3 Secondary School Teacher working in a variety of subjects (knowledge of core subjects is highly desirable).experience of teaching young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or high functioning autism (ASC)
- be an effective communicator
- be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of individuals within the group
- have a thorough understanding of differentiation within the classroom
- be able to provide a calm and positive presence
