Alternative provision (AP) is education outside of school for pupils who do not attend mainstream school for reasons such as school exclusion, behaviour issues, school refusal, or short or long term illness.
It includes settings such as pupil referral units (PRU), although some pupils who are on the roll of a PRU will also attend other forms of alternative provision off-site.
The primary activity of these schools is the provision of individualised education to young people with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs or Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) who are at risk of exclusion or have been excluded from their mainstream school.
If you have a passion for working with young people with complex SEMH needs, you are a Qualified Teacher and you are committed to making a difference to their lives via Education we would love to hear from you.
Please give Sam Bay a call on 01245 392 580 if you would like to have a confidential chat about the role of Qualified Teacher and the opportunities available.
